About RICHARD BOYD AND ASSOCIATES LLC


Richard Boyd, Principal

Richard Boyd has an advanced skill set in the following areas: Staff Development, Negotiations, Leadership Development, Strategic Planning, and Thinking,  and Organizational Development. He has more than 30 years of experience in 

Labor Relations. 

Prior to starting his consulting business, he has worked for the California Teachers Association (CTA), California School Employees Association (CSEA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and was President Emeritus of United Steelworkers of America, Local #8831. Richard is a former Adjunct Professor in the UC Davis Labor Management Program.

Richard's experience includes bargaining for both public and private sector. Richard has an advanced skill set in the following area(s): 

Human Resources, Employee Relations Management/Labor Relations, Collective Bargaining, Leadership Development, Strategic Planning and Thinking, Grievance and Arbitration, Budgeting, Budget Development and Organizational Development. 


Richard has an advanced skill set in Strategic Planning and in the administering of complex budgets and subsequent budget analysis. During Richard's tenure with the California Teachers Association/NEA He held the position of Uniserv-Negotiation and Organizational Development Specialist. One of his core functions was to perform advanced skill level assignments of the organization. For example:

A. State Budget Analysis

B. School District Budget Analysis

C. County Office of Education Budget Analysis

D. Higher Education Budget Analysis

E. Analytical assessment of Multi-Year Projections

In addition as the former President/Staff Director of United Steelworkers of America Local 8831, Richard promulgated and administered an annual operating budget of $5,000,000.  United Steelworkers of America Local 8831 operated an extensive and progressive Membership Program which included the following:

A. A 24 Hour Day Care Center

B. After School Program

C. Neighbor – to – Neighbor Program

D. Soup Kitchen (Seasonal)

E. Winter Homeless Shelter

Senior Associate - Brian Hayden

Brian Hayden

Brian is a trusted Associate who provides practical legal advice to employers on a wide range of complex and evolving employment law issues. He routinely conducts investigations on behalf of our clients and public entities related to allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage-hour violations, and other confidential personnel matters. Mr. Hayden frequently lectures and provides management and employee training on various employment-related topics.


He also reviews and drafts employment-related policies and agreements. In addition, Brian regularly updates employers on the latest developments in employment law, including drug testing, the impact of recreational marijuana laws, arbitration, pay equity/salary ban legislation and sick pay.


Mr. Hayden also has an active litigation practice. Since 2010, he has successfully defended employers in state and federal court and administrative actions, including race, gender, religious, national origin, age, and disability discrimination; sexual harassment, retaliation; wage and hour; breach of contract; and claims involving restrictive covenants and trade secrets. Brian works diligently to resolve matters early in litigation when possible but has also tried jury and bench trials before federal and state courts and arbitration panels. He has also handled appellate matters in Florida’s district courts of appeal and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.


Prior to attending law school at the University of Florida, Mr. Hayden worked as a Series 7 and 63 licensed securities trader in New York City. He also worked as a volunteer in Poland for the United States Peace Corps immediately following his graduation from Yale University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.

Christopher M. Moody

Brian Hayden

Christopher M. Moody is a founder of the employment and labor law firm of Moody & Stanford, P.C. He has been practicing employment and labor law since 1983 and represents management in labor relations matters, including collective bargaining, unfair labor practice cases, representation proceedings, and grievance arbitrations.


He represents both employers and employees with serious claims in employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage and hour litigation, including class and collective actions involving the claims of large numbers of employers.


Moody & Stanford was co-class counsel to a class of over 2,800 women stockbrokers in a ground-breaking nation-wide gender discrimination class action that settled in 2007 for over $46 million plus wide-ranging injunctive relief designed to level the playing field for women employees. Moody and Stanford was co-class counsel for a large gender discrimination class that was resolved in 2011 for $32 million as well as injunctive relief. Moody and the firm have been recognized by “Chambers USA – America’s Leading Lawyers for Business” each year since 2005 as leaders in employment law and Moody has been recognized as a “Southwest Superlawyer.”


Mr. Moody is a frequent presenter on employment law topics. Moody is a graduate of Duke University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in New Mexico, Colorado, and California. He accepts cases in those states and in other states throughout the United States, where he is able to participate in cases by associating with attorneys admitted to practice in the relevant state.

Ed Gomes 

Jeanette Dostie is an Attorney her area of expertise is in Wills, Trusts, Probate and Medicaid Planning. She has a wide experience in estate planning, ranging from simple wills to complex estate plans designed to maximize estate tax savings for clients, and special needs trusts through which families can provide for their disabled loved ones without reducing eligibility for public benefits programs. Attorney Dostie is frequently appointed by local Probate Courts to administer estates or represent missing heirs or minor beneficiaries.


Attorney Dostie graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with honors and is a graduate of Brown University. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Attorney Dostie is a past member of the Board of Directors of The Child Adoption 

Resource Association.

Cedric Porter

Cedric is a highly skilled, life savvy individual with 26-years of Labor/Management experience. Cedric has worked in both the Private and Public sectors.


Although Cedric’s professional experience has been exclusively in the service of Organized Labor, his skill-sets are not exclusive to Organized Labor; rather they are valued added and refreshingly broad based.
